1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember your preferences, understand how you use it, and improve your experience. Cookies may be set by the site you visit ("first-party cookies") or by third-party services embedded in the site ("third-party cookies").
Finovoo uses cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage and session storage) to operate the platform, remember your preferences, and understand usage patterns.
2. Essential cookies
These cookies are strictly necessary for Finovoo to function. Without them, core features like logging in, navigating between pages, and accessing secure areas would not work. Essential cookies cannot be disabled.
Session cookie — maintains your authenticated session while you use Finovoo. Expires when you close your browser or after 24 hours of inactivity
CSRF token — protects against cross-site request forgery attacks. Expires with your session
Language preference — stores your selected language (English, Français, العربية). Persistent, expires after 1 year
Cookie consent — records your cookie preferences so we do not ask again. Persistent, expires after 1 year
Security cookies — used for two-factor authentication and fraud prevention. Expires after 30 days
3. Functional cookies
Functional cookies enable enhanced features and personalization. They remember choices you make (such as your preferred currency, date format, or dashboard layout) so you do not have to reconfigure them each visit.
Dashboard preferences — remembers your preferred view (list, grid, chart) and column ordering
Currency display — stores your preferred display currency for expense reports
Notification settings — remembers which in-app notifications you have dismissed
Onboarding state — tracks which onboarding steps you have completed so we do not repeat them
4. Analytics cookies
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors interact with Finovoo — which pages are visited most, where users encounter errors, and how features are used. This data is aggregated and anonymized; it does not identify you personally.
We use this information to improve the product, fix bugs, and prioritize new features based on actual usage patterns.
Page views — which pages you visit and how long you spend on them
Feature usage — which features you interact with (e.g., receipt scanning, expense splitting)
Error tracking — captures JavaScript errors and performance issues to help us fix bugs
Device and browser — your browser type, operating system, and screen size (for responsive design improvements)
5. Marketing cookies
Finovoo currently does not use marketing or advertising cookies. We do not serve ads on our platform, and we do not share your browsing data with advertising networks.
If we introduce marketing cookies in the future, we will update this policy and request your consent before setting them.
6. Cookie duration
Cookies are classified by how long they remain on your device:
Session cookies — temporary cookies that are deleted when you close your browser. Used primarily for authentication and security
Persistent cookies — remain on your device for a set period (or until you delete them). Used for preferences and analytics. Our persistent cookies have a maximum lifetime of 1 year
7. Managing your cookies
You have full control over which optional cookies Finovoo sets. You can manage your preferences at any time:
Cookie settings — click "Cookie Settings" in the footer of any page to update your preferences
Browser settings — most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies through their privacy settings. Note that blocking essential cookies will prevent Finovoo from functioning
Do Not Track — Finovoo respects the Do Not Track (DNT) browser signal. When enabled, we disable all non-essential cookies automatically
Opt out of analytics — you can opt out of analytics tracking specifically without affecting other cookie categories
8. Third-party services
Some cookies may be set by third-party services we use to operate the platform. These services have their own cookie policies:
Authentication providers — if you sign in via Google SSO, Google may set cookies under their own domain
Payment processors — when you interact with payment features, our payment provider may set cookies for fraud prevention
Error monitoring — our error tracking service may set cookies to correlate error reports across sessions
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, regulation, or our practices. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the cookie consent banner and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
