Financial Planning

Financial planning that starts from what actually happened

Finovoo builds your budget and forecast on the actuals already in the platform. Change a driver — price, volume, hiring date — and the P&L, cash flow and balance sheet update together.

Revenue plan by segment: actuals, forecast and the original budget on one timeline.

The problem

The problems Financial Planning solves

  1. Every forecast starts from scratch

Copying actuals into a planning workbook each month is slow and error-prone, so forecasts are updated less often than they should be.

  2. Assumptions are invisible

Hard-coded numbers in cells make it impossible to see why the forecast changed or who changed it.

  3. Budget owners cannot contribute safely

Sharing the master file with department heads risks broken formulas; not sharing it means planning without them.

Capabilities

What Financial Planning includes

  • Driver-based models

Plan from the drivers that move the business — units, price, conversion, headcount — not just totals.

  • Rolling forecasts

Each month’s actuals replace the forecast automatically and the outlook rolls forward.

  • Revenue planning

Plan by product, segment, region or client, including churn, expansion and pricing changes.

  • Annual budgeting

Collect departmental budgets through guided input, review them centrally and lock the approved version.

  • Versions and scenarios

Keep budget, forecast and scenario versions side by side and compare any two.

  • Three-statement output

Plans flow through to P&L, cash flow and balance sheet views for board and investor reporting.

How it works

Key workflow

  1. Start from actuals

Historical results from Finovoo and imported data seed the model.

  2. Set drivers and assumptions

Define growth, pricing, hiring and cost drivers with owners and comments.

  3. Collaborate with budget owners

Department heads submit their numbers in guided views; finance reviews and approves.

  4. Re-forecast every month

New actuals roll the forecast forward and variances are explained automatically.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is driver-based financial planning?

Instead of typing a total for each line, you plan the drivers behind it — for example customers × price for revenue, or headcount × salary for payroll. When a driver changes, every line that depends on it updates.

Can department heads edit the plan?

Yes, within the scope you give them. Budget owners enter and comment on their own numbers; finance controls the model structure and approves submissions.

How often can we re-forecast?

As often as you like. Because actuals are already in Finovoo, most teams move from a quarterly re-forecast to a monthly or continuous one.
